Service Scope and Description
illustraBioMed Editing ("we","our", "us") provides professional scientific and medical editing services. Service tiers include:
Proofreading
Basic Editing
Premium (Substantive) Editing
Formatting
Note: All services focus solely on language and presentation; content ownership and responsibility remain with the author(s).
Minimum Word Count
The minimum word count of any document accepted for editing or formatting is 250 words (1 double-spaced page in a Word document).
Minimum Charges
There is a minimum charge of €100 per job.
Pricing
Each project is different. Prices depend on:
Word count
Type of service (Proofreading, Basic Editing, Premium Editing, Formatting)
Technical complexity
Quality of the original writing
Turnaround time
Please note that we charge:
a 40% surcharge for the Express Delivery service (3–4 business days)
We believe in transparent and fair pricing. All quotes are customized. Please use our Request a Quote form for a free, no-obligation estimate.
Payment
illustraBioMed Editing currently accepts payments via SWIFT/BIC/IBAN Bank Transfer only.
Payment terms
A 50% deposit is requested before editing begins
The remaining 50% is due upon delivery of the final edited manuscript
Invoices are itemised, clear, and include all necessary payment details
Service Delivery (3000–5000-word manuscript)
Standard delivery: 5–10 business days
Express delivery: 3–4 business days
Delivery time excludes weekends and public holidays and may vary depending on manuscript length and service selected. Estimated delivery time will be clearly stated in your quote. Documents longer than 5000 words may require more time. Delays due to force majeure or unresponsive communication will be communicated clearly. Specific terms may be outlined in your individual client agreement.
Revisions Policy
One minor revision (e.g., clarification or small language update of edited material) and minor formatting corrections (of formatted material) are included, to be requested within 7 calendar days of delivery
Second-round editing of the same document requested within 6 months of delivery (e.g., post-peer-review) receives a 30% discount, provided the content has not changed significantly
Major revisions or new content may incur additional charges
File formats & Formatting
Editing is done in MS Word with Track Changes turned on. Comments are added by using the Comment Feature in MS Word.
Please submit the document to be edited in Word format (doc. or docx.)
Provide formatting instructions and cover letters (if required)
Confidentiality
All communications and submitted client materials are treated with strict confidentiality. Manuscripts are not shared or disclosed and are deleted after project completion. All intellectual property rights remain with the author.
Refunds Policy
Due to the nature of editorial work, the time and expertise committed to each project, refunds are not offered. If you have questions about your document or are not satisfied with the outcome, please reach out—revisions can often resolve the issue.
Ethical Use
By using our services, you (the client) confirm:
You are the author or authorized representative
The content is not plagiarized or fabricated
You will not use our services for illegal or abusive purposes
The submitted manuscript/material complies with ethical publishing or other relevant standards
We reserve the right to refuse service if ethical violations are suspected.
Privacy Policy
Our Privacy Policy, in the next section, specifies the scope and purpose of the collection, processing, and use of the personal data necessary for the performance of the tasks of illustraBioMed Editing.
Work Ownership & Author Responsibility
The author retains full intellectual property and authorship rights
Final responsibility for the accuracy, interpretation, content, structure, and integrity of the work remains with the author(s)
illustraBioMed Editing provides editorial support only, and does not contribute to the scientific content or authorship. The service provided is strictly limited to language editing and formatting
Disclaimers
We do not guarantee journal acceptance, publication, or any other outcome from the use of our services. illustraBioMed Editing is not responsible for delays caused by force majeure, email issues, or incorrect contact details.
